Description:
Campbell University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Instructional Designer with the division of Adult and Online Education. This position, based in Buies Creek, North Carolina, is part of a dynamic and rapidly growing area of the university. The successful candidate will join a close-knit team of professionals who work together to provide academic excellence and an outstanding educational experience for students in online and blended courses at Campbell University, and will co-lead some faculty development activities.
Position Summary:
Coordinates, schedules and provides group and individual faculty and staff training sessions on various topics related to online and blended course development and instruction, and provides support to faculty during the teaching of courses using Blackboard and other technologies. Co-designs and co-leads faculty development workshops to support designing and teaching outstanding online courses. Coordinates and schedules university-wide events related to faculty training and development in instructional design and technology usage; promotes sound instructional design methods and models in the design and development of courses that reflect best practices in digital learning. Works one-on-one with faculty to support their development of online and blended courses. Serves as part of a team of designers who evaluate and certify proposed courses for online delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with Instructional Design team, develops and implements faculty development workshops in short and extended-time formats to guide faculty development of outstanding online course, with an emphasis on graduate courses.
Shares instructional design techniques for effective synchronous and asynchronous technology-mediated instruction.
Works with instructors to design courses and revise existing courses to maximize learning in a distance learning environment.
Evaluates proposed online and blended courses based on design needs, best practices for learning, and SACS requirements for distance education.
Designs attractive and clear layouts, helps develop materials that facilitate learning.
Writes documentation and instructions to assist faculty developers.
Develops and maintains training materials for the Blackboard Learning Management System and other instructional technology tools.
Conducts training workshops and demonstrations using a variety of delivery methods, including face to face, web-based, telephone, and video sessions.
Assists faculty in supporting and troubleshooting technical problems for Blackboard, Webex and other software problems, as they prepare and deliver instruction.
Coordinates with Department Heads, Extended Campus Directors, Faculty Leaders, and other faculty to develop online and mixed modality courses and conduct regular reviews to ensure quality of online instruction and adherence to the University policies related to online education.
Masters new instructional technologies and stays abreast of trends in online and blended teaching.
Other duties as determined by the Director of Instructional Design.
Education/Experience/Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education and E-learning, Instructional Coaching, or related field preferred.
Three (3) years' experience in course development in an on-line environment required.
Extensive teaching and training experience, including the development and delivery of technology-enabled instruction.
Quality Matters, OSCQR, or similar instructional design certification desired.
Extensive experience designing courses in a standard LMS required; Blackboard Platform Training desired.
Ability to learn CRM databases.
Experience using a range of technology tools to support online and hybrid learning (e.g. synchronous webinar tools such as Webex, Skype or Zoom; interactive module design software such as Articulate or Camtasia; Adobe Acrobat; and standard Microsoft office tools).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
