Summary: Assumes the responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of the campus building and structures. The Housekeeper must work in all areas of campus facilities to keep them free from clutter, orderly and straight, as well as fresh and disinfected. This makes up our definition of CLEAN. The hours are Monday through Friday, from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Be punctual and follow the rules of the university
Respond to work orders in a timely manner.
Report the need for major or minor facility repairs.
Lifting and emptying ashtrays and trash cans.
Dusting and cleaning vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming all floor surfaces.
Maintain the cleanliness of bathroom fixtures and surfaces.
Stocking bathrooms with towels, tissue and soap.
Straightening and setting up for classes and events.
Climbing of stairs to clean them and move between floors of buildings.
Be able to work while standing for the majority of the day.
Completing any/all other tasks as assigned by manager.
Reaching above ones head to work, climb a ladder to a height to work on ceilings and lights.
Be able to use equipment such as a vacuum cleaner, buffer, or carpet cleaner.
Maintaining confidentiality
Education: High School
Area of Study: General studies and/or trade
Experience: 6 months of related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Read and write
Maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license or a viable means of transportation to and from work.
Be able to follow oral and/or written directions.
Requires lifting up to 75 lbs. and moving it without assistance between building and across campus effectively and efficiently.
Maintain appropriate records of preventive maintenance.
Must be punctual and follow rules of the university.
Complexity of Duties: Requires working with several of cleaning chemicals and equipment, being able to read contents and directions is important.
Types of Contacts: Maintains contact with faculty, staff and students in order to collect information for completing job.
Decision-Making: Analyze information in order to make decisions based on standard operating procedures and policies. Major decisions are made by the supervisor after they speak with the Superintendent.
Physical Demands: Requires climbing stairs and ladders, reaching above their heads, constant bending, walking from building to building.
Mental Demands: Requires meeting deadlines in order to complete work orders or projects in a stressful amount of time. Some weekends may be required such as graduation, orientation, etc.
Other Information: Requires working with other departments at the plant in order to get special projects, such as graduation done in a timely manner.
